October Update and New Technical Difficulties
Hello! I'm back with another update, as you haven't heard much from me in a while, especially if you don't follow me on Mastodon or Instagram!
The Technical Difficulties
The big news to start: The Technical Difficulties are back with four episodes of something we haven't done for many years: Reverse Trivia!
The first episode went up last week, and the second episode has just gone live now!
And if you didnt know, Gary also has his own YT channel, on which he drove an Intercity 125 train last month!
Matt Gray is Trying
This is still in the planning zone. We're speaking to several different people about different project ideas, and hopefully we'll get to film one soon.
The pace has slowed on these videos as we've taken what we've learned from the stats and comments on the ones already out, and have decided to go for "BIG WOW" topics and opportunities.
Matt's Next Video
MGIT may have slowed, but I'm still aiming for monthly videos when I can.
The project I'm working on now is hallowe'en-related and really going to tax my making skills, as its not just 3D printing and electronics as usual. One might even call it cosplay?
Links
As always, I’ll see you out with a few links to some completely unrelated things that I found interesting:
- The Tape Notes Podcast, presented by my favourite music interviewer John Kennedy, delves into the art and craft of music production. He speaks to an artist and their producer about their collaboration, and how their tracks got made from the ground up. This regularly includes them opening up their recording session, and playing individual parts of a track one by one to see how it comes together as a whole.
- I came across Marta.stl thanks to a YouTube algorithm recommendation, and really like that she's using the storytelling style of filmmaking to document her progress with things shes made. In "i fixed my desk's biggest problem with my 3d printer", she does just that but in a way that I enjoyed for 12 minutes.
- In the latest Answer in Progress video Taha explores the work done by foley artists, crafting the sounds of every day life in film. And then working with an Emmy Award winning foley artist tries to unsilence a silent film.
- DandyDemon on TikTok has been trying a new food every day, including durian which is notoriously one of the worst-smelling foods, and none pizza left beef which I was surprised to hear is still available to order! Her reactions and wide-ranging facial expressions are absolutely what make it for me.
- And finally, I found out that any UK resident can apply to be a member of the House of Lords?!
